May 10th Solar Storm and the Magic of the Aurora Borealis

 

   I'm sure everyone on this page knows that some massive solar flares are hitting the Earth right now. Even if you are in a reasonably southern location, you may very well be able to see the Northern Lights tonight. I don't think that it would be shocking for anyone here to know that the Aurora Borealis is a key part of why I grouped my astrological efforts under the name Facing North.

    All of the planets reside to the South. The structuring, conquering, powerful, domineering energies all fall and rise towards the South where the Midheaven is. I strongly believe that it was the Northern Lights, the same phenomenon which indigenous populations believe to be their ancestors speaking to them, that led those who wanted nothing to do with imperial conquest and royal subjugation to continue to move further and further north into less and less hospitable climates. The further they brought their families, the brighter the lights shone.

    The Northern Lights represent independence from the larger societal structures based on greed and material manipulation. The Northern Lights are a call to reconnect with nature, and commune with those closest to you. The Aurora Borealis shine from the North, which is where the IC resides, hidden beneath the Earth. When the Aurora Borealis Roar, they are electromagnetic waves emanating from the Sun, which is hidden to the North, beneath the Earth, coming from the dark houses surrounding the IC. 
     In a natal chart, if one were to note that a person were born upon a major display of Aurora Borealis, I believe that it can indicate a powerful accentuation to the IC of a chart, that point of deep, internal, and private motivation. 

    When you go out tonight and get your mind blown as the lights dance to the music within your soul, remember this... it is calling you North, away from the suffering of the material and imperial insanity of this realm.
