The Astrology of the 2024 American Election: Perseus Saves Andromeda From The Beast with the Gift of the Goat
Making predictions is hard. Postmortem forensic analysis of the astrology is easy: so let's focus on the latter!
Much has been made of the claim that "75% of astrologers guessed the results of the American election wrong, which is a 50% chance pick, which proves astrology is bunkus". Alright, there's a lot to unpack there, and a lot to go over. I didn't research the astrology behind this election before hand, and so didn't make a prediction. I find politics (especially as someone who is not an American), to be beyond our ability to influence, and so a waste of time to obsess over. I've spent my days in the trenches of political obsession, but found it to only make me neurotic, defeated and miserable, without ever having made a positive impact anywhere. A much better use of our time is to focus on the smaller things we can change. Having said that, a friend did ask me a horary question about whether Trump would win, and the answer of the horary was that he would, with hidden enemies from behind the scenes working playing a role, as there was a strong 12th house accentuation to the chart. This horary is neither here nor there as it was done as a private favor to a friend, but many astrologers predicted in either direction publicly, so I'm not entirely sure who is collating this data, and which astrologers were deemed relevant enough to include in the tally. Furthermore; the idea that this proves astrology wrong doesn't quite hold water, because if any given answer to this question has a 50% chance of being right, and yet 75% percent of those surveyed got it wrong, we are in a statistically interesting place. The obvious answer would be that personal political bias came into play in some people's astrology. This is possible, but it's not really the answer I want to settle on, I think that there is something far more interesting going on under the surface if we dive into the charts.
What needs to be said is that there were mixed indications for both Kamala and Trump. Both charts were lit up powerfully by the sky, as one might expect while running for president of the United States of America, but neither transit set were entirely good or bad. As I've stated many times, astrology is both fractal, and functionally infinite. You can address any one chart from a range of different systems, and even within any one system, there are so many factors to take into consideration, one must narrow down the important details to what one is specifically looking for. In this case, we are primarily interested in the MC, as it indicates both one's career, visible status, and more literally, the king, or ruler. It can also signify the judgement of a legal matter, or in this instance, an election.

Transits to Donald Trump's Natal chart on election day. |
This Uranus MC conjunction is upon Algol, which, when met with Mars earlier in the summer resulted in Trump's assassination attempt. Algol, being the eye of Medusa's head, lopped off by the hero Perseus and wielded as a weapon, can be linked to feminine rage in some interpretations. I guess Medusa was sensitive about decapitation or something, you know, women losing their heads.... bad joke... I'm sorry, let's get back to the astrology. Whether the feminist significations of Algol was a direct influence upon the assassination attempt, and other shady issues surrounding it, is well beyond the scope of this essay, but that first pass of Uranus to his MC triggered by Mars, and how he responded to it, showed a massive surge in public support. When I saw the blood stained ear, fist raised picture become a meme, I certainly thought the election had already been won. Uranus is definitely not a purely positive planet in influence, often the shifts and changes it shows can be extremely difficult. On the MC it can manifest as a stable career being ripped away from you, only to be viewed in retrospect as having forced your hand to pursue a better option.
Taken on its own, Uranus on the MC could have been interpreted either way, and could potentially show, given it will station direct a degree away from his MC around the time of inauguration, the battle to certify the results of the election, and make them stick, which was implied by the horary I cast. When we look at other aspects to his MC, we have a tight sextile from Neptune, while being an aspect of ease, is not necessarily a great indicator of success. The best that could be said about this as it applies to a presidential election would be the implication that he was able to harness the dreams of the electorate, be they real or delusional. Neptune in his eighth house of other people's assets can also apply to money, or taxes, you fill in the blanks regarding popular elements of his platform. It could also imply that his own aspirations of kingdom are delusional. If he hadn't already won the presidency before, I would be inclined to interpret it in this manner. The Sun was widely opposed his Mid-heaven on election day, moving towards his IC, which could imply going home, not going to office, unless he considers the presidency his true home, but I'm pretty sure he didn't even move in to the White House during his first term.
Next up, we have Saturn, which requires a bit of extra explanation. Saturn, as it moves through the houses of a chart, denotes a 30 year cycle of one's relationship to responsibility, which becomes the structuring backbone of one's life in all facets. As Saturn moves towards the MC, rising from the Descendant of the chart, one is on their rise to the peak of status. Saturn is moving to sextile his MC, and building up that structure of authority, and in his case, power throughout this presidential term. This, I would argue, is a good testimony to Trump winning the election, and having the results stick, though one testimony alone does not make a solid prediction!
Pluto is trining his MC. While the trine is a good aspect, Pluto is a generally nasty planet, though with the themes of subterranean hidden power, in good aspect with Trump's MC, I consider this another win for him.
We next have to look at Venus, ruler of his MC. It is in the eleventh house of groups, sometimes seen as gifts from the king or government, as well as social media in modern times. We we all know how Trump was able to use the internet to his advantage. His Venus sextiling the MC is a very good natal indication of him winning to begin with, even though it is conjunct Saturn. In fact, having natal Saturn sextiling his MC only shows how it being mimicked in the opposite side of his chart via transit is an element of normalcy for him, likely to work in his favour.
Mars having just conjuncted his Venus in the previous week is not a good sign, and surely showed up as confounding and frustrating his efforts, though by election day it had changed signs, relieving that pressure. The Sun was moving to trine his Venus, so this as well is a good sign, but none of this would give anyone a resounding sense of success, until we look at big Daddy Jupiter, the great benefic. It is in the eleventh house, upon his north lunar node of expanding desires, this bodes well, especially when we see that it is conjunct his Sun, which is also his ascendant ruler.
Jupiter was also being opposed by Venus on this day, which was on his Moon. The Moon itself early that morning passed by Venus and his natal Moon. The lunar return can be a moment of great peace every month, I assume that Trump was feeling it as he woke up on Election day. While the evidence for his great win is mixed, we have every indication that he was at least feeling confident and powerful on November 5th.

Transits to Kamala Harris' natal chart on Election Day |
Let us now dig into Kamala's chart. We again don't need to dig too deeply into natal significations of success, as she was already the Vice President, but there's an interesting theme developing as we investigate. Kamala's MC is in Pisces, ruled by Jupiter, which is in her 12th house. Is it possible that Kamala felt trapped by her own success? Interestingly enough, Kamala's Jupiter is upon Trump's Mid-heaven, and so, receiving the same conjunctions from Uranus. Now that is interesting. Aside from perhaps the surprising boost to her career trajectory as Biden was pushed out, perhaps the shock was that she discovered she didn't want it.
Mars, which is done conjuncting Trump's MC ruler, is now moving to square Kamala's Jupiter. The element of Masculine energy is clearly on the side of Trump. The Sun, or the King; whoever truly holds the power; is opposed to Kamala's MC ruler, and moving past the trine to her MC. Again, this is a sign that her time has passed. The only really good testament for Kamala's winning is the Jupiter Venus opposition which takes place directly upon her ascendant axis that day. Jupiter had been hanging out on her ascendant for a while, boosting her visibility greatly, just as it has Trump's Sun, but it was a feature of that week that Venus was opposing Jupiter from its own sign in Sag. Again, we see the Moon, the common people in mundane astrology, crossing her descendant that day with Venus. The descendant being where one takes in energy, and representing other people in her chart. This to me would be a powerful testimony, especially since Jupiter rules her MC. Kamala clearly felt a sense of great relief that day, but what if, the relief was that she lost, and could move on to something else? Note that Jupiter, while moving to conjunct her ascendant, was still in her twelfth house of feeling trapped. Is there more evidence of this? Let's look to the secondary progressions.

Secondary Progressions for Kamala Harris on Election Day |
Kamala is just past, by a few years, her progressed Full Moon. This implies that a great culmination in her life had happened last year as she wrapped up her final year as Vice President, and perhaps was told by the Democratic Party power brokers that they were looking at ousting Biden and placing her into the role of their Presidential candidate. As with any lunation however, the waning Moon implies a winding down, and the loss of light. While still almost full (a year becomes a day in secondary progressions, so consider that a day after a full Moon, one can barely notice a visual difference), she is bright and shining as the candidate for the highest office in the land. Full Moon's are also stressful, but the stress begins to wane once the opposition is complete.

Donald Trump's Secondary Progressed Chart on election day. |
Well, that would be a good place to end it, but there is another, deeper mythology at play here when we look at the stars. For starters, it's been pointed out that bizarrely, Kamala Harris is Alamak and Sirrah backwards, alternate names for the Alpha and Gamma stars of Andromeda. Her head and her feet. That would be interesting enough, but Kamala's Moon is upon Vertex, the Andromeda galaxy, our nearest neighbour. While it is now known to be a galaxy, in antiquity, it was seen as a nebula. All nebulae were viewed as being negative, and affecting one's ability to see clearly, a very literal interpretation of the blurry stars in the sky. This hearkens back to Neptune being in Kamala's tenth house at election time, was her candidacy some strange ploy by her party which she did not see clearly? Was the election thrown by the power-brokers for some greater political intrigue?

Andromeda was the daughter of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia. The Queen's arrogance, bragging about her daughter's beauty led to the angering of the Nereids, who petitioned Poseidon (or rather Neptune for our purposes here), to send a great beast, Cetus, to ravage the land. The demand was made that the King must sacrifice his daughter to the beast in order to save the land, which he does. It is only the young hero Perseus who comes along, falls in love with Cassiopeia chained to the rock, and has the strength to save the day, after asking permission of the King, and using Medusa's Head to turn the beast to stone. What? Algol? On Trump's Mid-heaven? Am I hallucinating? An old, weak, and presumably senile man places his daughter in peril to satiate the rage of the Sea Nymphs. I'll let you unravel that convoluted thread with whatever conspiratorial lens you wish to use. Is this all some grand astrological ritual play? Life really is that strange when you learn the secrets of the stars.
But what about Jupiter in all this? After all, the elephant is the symbol of the Republican party, and the elephant is an animal of profound Jupiterian resonance. We aren't done yet! Jupiter stationed retrograde upon Capella, which is the she-goat held in the arms of Auriga the chariot rider. Capella was the goat who suckled Jupiter as a babe while he was being hidden from his tyrannical father Saturn, who liked eating children. Now Capella is upon both Trump's Sun, and Kamala's ascendant. While Jupiter is in exile within Gemini, there is a certain beautiful homecoming to Jupiter visiting his nurse maid for so long, and playing such a large role in this tale. One can imagine Jupiter is feeling extra benefic and generous while visiting the one who cared for him. In fact it was him playfully tearing off the horn of Capella which became the horn of plenty. But why, when Jupiter rules Kamala's MC, would Jupiter bestow his blessings upon Trump above Kamala? From a strictly astrological point of view between the two, Trump's Sun is slightly closer to both Jupiter on that day and Capella, and it was trining Trump's natal Jupiter.

That's enough insanity for one day. See why I stopped paying attention to politics? It can drive you mad!
