The PHP Leaks in the Roots of our Hinterland Castle

The Hinternet.  You know it.  You love it.  You live on it.  You are terrified of it.  My good friend Alex Fulton of Crypto-K blew my mind this morning after a terrifying liminal dream type experience that really shook me up. Those details are irrelevant however; as dreams are the real world, and we're here to discuss digital diffusion.  I should have known that when I awoke from terror to see the time 2:37 on my digital alarm clock, that I'd stumlbe downstairs to discover some gold from Alex. It was this post that started the whole cascade of maniacal msuing.  He simply pointed out that Pluto is on the Internets Saturn as the giant security PHP breach was unveiled.  I wasn't even aware the internet had a known natal chart until a few minutes ago, and now my mind, fully caffeinated, is absolutely whirling.  I almost lost my head in the dream (real) realm, and now here I am, losing my head in the digital one.  Before we get to the main event, let's back up and look at the Chart.
(Note: while I'm going to use the colloquial term the "internet" here, there is rightfully a whole separate birth chart for the internet in its totality.  What we are discussing specifically is the application of the World Wide Web, with this relevant natal information.)

Ooooo! Check out the lovely new Pythagorean Colour Wheel charts my boy Petr added to Astro-Seek!

The internet is a profoundly Mercurial invention.  The God Hermes distilled down through the wires, speeding instantaneously across the globe with the whizz of our fingers (which are ruled by Mercury).  Any thought, any image, any video, any goddamned anything we please is shareable everywhere instantaneously!  One might say the internet IS Hermes himself exalted on high.  And so it is.  Mercury in his exaltation, about as powerful as can be.  Visible in the evening sky, aided by Venus, and angular in the tenth whole sign house, high in the sky.  Jupiter is close, but out of sign.  I'm sure Mercury was still buzzing with a bit of that fiery Jupiter energy.  What is more present is the applying trine to Uranus.  Oh the things Mercury can do when blessed with the Promethian fire of Uranus!  Further support to Mercury is that it is ruling the Moon in Gemini, though waning and past the square, they can still see each other.

The Venusian domain of social connections is with Mercury, in his realm, in whole sign, the tenth, so powerful and angular, the purpose of this chart, yet in Placidus, they are in the ninth house of foreign lands, while the actual MC is within the eleventh whole sign house of friends and groups, and quite obviously in our modern age, social media.  That midheaven points to the place in which a decade earlier Jupiter and Saturn met for the first time in an air sign in over 500 years.  Air being the sign of communication and technology. This MC, ruled by a fallen and retrograde Venus, is in the ninth house.  We may roll this up into a very tidy and eloquent description of what the internet has done to our society; brilliantly connect us to the rest of the world, even removing the Babylonian barriers of myriad languages, while disconnecting everyone further and further from their in-person social groups and families.  There's Mars, having just touched Venus as she stationed retrograde, and awaiting Mercury to complicate matters.  Oh, Venus will connect the world, but not without an endless stream of arguments and relentless ideological struggles of nebulous relevance as we block and ignore our beloved in the physical realm over sentences on a screen.  As well, the Imum Coeli, the prime motivator beneath the surface of the internet, is in Aries.  Not a sign known for social harmony.

I think that we can all agree, now that we are more than one Saturn cycle out from its birth, that the hinternet is officially an adult, and has changed society profoundly in both positive and negative ways. No one can claim any longer that it is a fad, or that it hasn't been one of the most monumental inventions re-wiring the human mind of all time.  We'll put fire first, and internet second.  If you don't agree, come on, fight me!  That's what the internet is for!

When something this profound is launched, one would expect it to happen during an eclipse cycle, and boy howdy, did it!  Not just any eclipse cycle, but in a year where there were FOUR lunar eclipses.  Yes, you heard right.  As the Saros Cycles in and out of existence, at their peak, you get a total (or annular) solar eclipse, and two very weak Lunar eclipses on either side of it.  This is a relatively rare occurrence, as you know, and for some reason in 1991, we had TWO!  The first of the year took place in Capricorn highlighting something extremely important....

The Internet was created during the buildup of the epic Uranus Neptune conjunction in Capricorn (which happens once every 170 years, so not a common event,) and then truly unleashed upon the public during its perfection in 1993.  Uranus and Neptune both, in their own unique ways, serve to grind down the structures of Saturn, which are most stable in Capricorn generally, where one relies upon the traditions of the past to build on solid, time-tested grounds.  The truly ground breaking work of Neptune and Uranus couldn't really get going until Saturn left Capricorn and entered its diurnal rulership in Aquarius, where new ideas contrary to that which served in the past can be built.  Adding to this is Saturn within a degree of Altair, the Alpha star of Aquilla, the glorious eagle of Zeus.  This star can give extreme brilliance with its bright light so high in the sky.

This annular eclipse, (where the moon is perfectly placed within the heart of the Sun, but is too far from the Earth to cover the Sun), half a year before the World Wide Web was made public, was showing its ring of fire in the coldest sign, right next to Saturn, about to leave Capricorn for another 29 years.  Eclipses signal the birth and death of monumental events.  And so it was.  Note that in Geneva, this eclipse happened exactly on the IC of where the Hinternet was born.  In other words, the fiery ring was not seen in the sky there, but on the opposite side of the Earth, a place where that Promethean flame would in the future be brought home via wires and satellites in real time.  The ascendant in Geneva was upon Spica, a star of profound skills and competency in all things, check back on that natal chart again; the functionality of this insane idea had a Lot of good Fortune.

So where is that happening in the natal chart?  In the second whole sign, but within the bounds of the Placidus first house of identity in the natal chart.  Trining Mercury, giving that boundary defying, rule breaking energy to our beloved Exalted Hermes.  Saturn, now in, and ruling, the third house of our local environment, is exactly upon Black Lillith, the Moon's apogee.  In other words, where we leave our sense of care and nurturing out in the cold, which is also the source of that annular eclipse of course. A sign of a lack of Saturnine barriers and solid root structure. The Moon herself is not at apogee, but rather close to the Earth, in Gemini in the seventh house of other people. Here we are trying to connect with others through the most Mercurial of all means, from a distance and primarily words alone, divorced from the subtle, more subconscious and emotional non-verbal cues, and the psychic sense of another's emotional energy within our physical presence.  Do not forget that this is a waning Moon, something is losing its life and energy.  With the Seventh in Gemini in the internet's birth chart, it is through ideas alone that we shall connect, leave your emotions at home.

Silly me! I haven't even mentioned the ascendant ruler yet! Sag rising is perfect, for its love of foreign adventures and big ideas alone.  Jupiter also rules the fourth, the sign of our home.  Here, we have a tool to present ourselves publicaly, into the entire world, from the comfort of our couch. When we get to the ruler of the ascendant, which can show the general health of the system, we get yet another indication of foreign lands, being situated in the ninth house.  Jupiter has triplicity dignity in Leo.  It has the power to do its thing, and we can all see that... but not for long. Jupiter is about to be enveloped by the Sun and disappear.  Meanwhile, both Jupiter and the Sun are in a square to Pluto, hiding in the 12th house of hidden enemies, which is ruled by Mars, ready to mess with Mercury as well.  There is a danger hiding here... what is it?

If we look to the total solar eclipse less than a month before the Hinternet was first made live, again, we have an eclipse that was exactly angular in Geneva, setting as it began.  This eclipse was a BIG deal.  It lasted for 6 minutes and 53 seconds.  About as long as Luna is able to hold back the Sun's light all to herself.  My Mom kept me home from school to watch it, not that it was total up north where I'm from, but it certainly made a huge impression upon me.  I already knew not to trust the authority figures and looked at it directly a lot, as one does with the sort of thing that is that momentous, like the hinternet would be for me.  But what is culminating in that eclipse chart in Geneva?

That dark, dastardly Pluto in Scorpio with the stinger hiding in the dirt below.  The ascendant is right in between Uranus and Neptune.  Note that this is a South node eclipse, in Cancer.  The warmth and care in the home being sucked out of the living room and onto your phone.  Rather close to Sirius no less. Venus had just fallen that day, and Mercury had yet to rise into his full glory.

REVELATION OF THE BREACH

On October 21st, 2026, at 1:34 UTC, on Mercury's Day no less, a report was made that a significant breach in the PHP protocol was discovered using AI tools to search for weaknesses which could "allow an unauthenticated attacker to execute code on servers running PHP."  A large chunk of the World Wide Web is run on PHP still, despite it being an antiquated code more suited to the use of hobbyists, which was adopted permanently by many official and large scale sites for the sake of expediency, which should have worked with better code. (thank you Paranoid American for your clutch knowledge in my manic state of wigging out about the astrology of all this, trying to learn as much as possible about PHP immediately.  Probably should have just divined with PCP.)  The breach had been discovered in August, but was not made public, wisely, until a patch was developed.  Below are the transits.

Let's talk about it!  The shock of it (I mean.. is anyone REALLY shocked, does anyone really believe ANYTHING is secure and safe online?), is at least two fold.  We have Uranus, just stationed retrograde, squaring that all-important Mercury-Venus conjunction from the seventh house of other people.  Now that's a shock, meanwhile, Mars is right on the Sun of the Hinternet's chart, and being a day chart, we expect Mars to be a little more nasty to the Hinternet than Saturn is.  Saturn's in fall in the fourth house, making people feel insecure, meanwhile the natal Saturn of the chart is being hit by an also stationing Pluto, emboldened by the trine from Uranus, ready to make AI go BRRRRR!!!!  Note that Pluto is also stationing close to Altair, gaining that same Eagle-eyed vision Saturn has in the natal chart.  This is good for both the hackers, and those trying to patch the leaks.  For those trying to bring security back to the web, note that the Moon at the moment of the release of this fix, is upon Deneb Algedi, in the tail of the Goat-fish, a star profoundly concerned with correct and righteous application of the law, and protection for all who abide it.  With Rahu mind you, this entire situation is a bit unhinged and out of control.  It's interesting that the way they found this breach, by using AI to look for potential ways to hack the PHP, is exactly the same powerful tool which will be used to negate every patch, fix and barrier anyone tries to erect, at least until Saturn gains a better footing, which is frankly a long way away.

Aside from the Pluto - Uranus trine working in lockstep, allowing Pluto to reveal the hidden cracks in the foundation of this ancient code, is Neptune, right on the Hinternet's IC.  The root and ancestry of a chart, that which is most hidden.  In this case, it is the source code at the foundation of the World Wide Web.  Neptune is there dissolving, weakening, and diffusing the structures which should be solid, unshakeable, and even unknowable.  That which no one should see, is being vaporized out into the air where Pluto can reveal what was hidden in the underworld.  Speaking of underworld, let us not forget that Mercury was stationing retrograde upon the Pluto in this source chart, in the twelfth house of hidden enemies.  Mars rules both the twelfth and the IC of this chart.

Remember what we said earlier about Mars afflicting both Mercury and Venus, (and the Moon more broadly), well that chicken has come to roost.  How do we know this?  It is a twelfth house profection year for the Hinternet, making Mars the Time Lord for this year.  And guess what?  This year ain't over!  Mars is about to go retrograde from the house of Virgo back into Leo this winter, and in the midst of a ton of wild carnage moving forward.  This story is not will not be finished with one simple patch!  An interesting note to bring up here is that the 12th house of hidden enemies, (in this case, hackers hiding in caves of enemy encampments, be they from foreign nations, your next door neighbour, or the deep coffers of your tax dollars' blackest of ops) which is also the house of self undoing.  Those battling us from the depths of the darkness are so often brought on by our own flaws.  In this instance, a lazy reliance on old, flawed code.  Speaking of which, it's also the Hinternet's Jupiter return! A reckoning of the seeds sown, and the blessings offered which must now be worked to harvest.  In this chart, the flaws were brought to light, but the same international community of connected individuals working on the vanguard of  Uranian inspired Hermes are able to dam the effluent flow.

We have a complex web woven here, of failures, enemies, and last minute saves at the exact right time.  What does this mean moving forward?  I don't believe that this story can be solved without looking to the inner workings of the Hinternet, if one believes such a thing is possible, and well, I sure do!  We must check the Secondary Progressions.

The progressed chart is full of new beginnings, and shifted potentials.  A year previously, the Hinternet experienced its progressed Full Moon, the beginning of a whole new 29 year cycle. One must realize, that while it was founded with the Sun in Leo, full of glorious inspiration and individuality, two decades ago, the reality that our entire society is functioning within this space set in, and more serious, and calculated measures needed to be put in place, as the progressed Sun moved into Virgo.  During that time, there was a lengthy Mercury retrograde, which is now direct in the progressed chart, and just this year, is freshly back within Virgo.  A new start with far more intellectual power than was previously evidenced over the past few decades.  In a mixed moment of liminality, Jupiter is also prepared to enter Virgo, the sign of its exile, where it will do its best to assist Mercury in all his minute motions, but not a place that Jupiter is comfortable in at all.  Venus, meanwhile, is in the process of stationing direct at 21 Leo.  Are you catching this?  A shared Mercury Venus retrograde happening in the same signs, just a few signs over from where that shared experience is happening now, and Venus is stationing direct right where Mars will station direct after his retrograde in the winter of 2027, a degree which he is moving towards as we speak.  Speaking of Mars in this prog chart, he's now in Libra where he's less than happy to figure out how to rage in the sign of harmony and balance.  He's had a chance to harass the Moon as she moved past, but that breach has now been sealed, what is next?  Uranus is now right on the ascendant of the progressed chart.  The future is now, except that the progressed Saturn is about to move back into Capricorn, away from the brilliance of Altair in forward thinking Aquarius.  Evolve or die, and Saturn is very happy to just die as opposed to try the new and scary thing.

Psyche!  The good news is that Saturn never gets back into Capricorn, it stationed direct in that degree, and moved back into the Aquarian futur,  an event which will happen for our progresed and beloved Hinternet in the blessed year of 2050.  Well that's a little further ahead than I imagine we'd all like to think about. Right now, the progressed Moon is just past its lowest point in the chart, at the Southern Lunar Bending.  She was confused and not sure where to turn, but the fact is decided and she shall return back into the light, after moving into the dark terrain of Scorpio of course.  It will be a long haul, but she is prepared for it.  For the moment, progressed Venus is upon the natal Jupiter, and we can all enjoy the salve in that.

There is one chart we forgot to get to though.  I'd mentioned there were an unheard of 4 Lunar eclipses in 1991, but we never looked at the eclipse that fired off less than two weeks before our founding message was sent, making the hinternet natal chart still well within the domain of eclipse season.

Wow, Pluto right on the Midheaven eh?  I guess those hidden battles will be a major theme.  There's Luna, right with Saturn on Altair losing a little light, but not a blood red Moon to be sure.  Mercury has just entered his nocturnal home, and is ready to get to work with Venus and Mars.  Again, we see the nodal axis right on the Ascendant-Descendant line.
In terms of what comes next, I'll leave you in the hands of the brilliant Altair Mercury native, Andreas Xirtus, who assisted me greatly in my time of informational need, because I don't use AI like a digital savage, I talk to those who mine it expertly like a true, civilized human being!

It's a long way to 2050, but we're all in for the ride!  Post your thoughts online!  Don't worry, enjoy the hate, the government already knows what you have to say anyways!
